Reflections

Students reflect on the overall project. Comments were taken from the Reflections Worksheet.

Did you enjoy EB3?  It was fun reading their journals, learning about their trip & talking to them on the satellite phone.
Final Comments
I think it was fun and if possible the 7th grade should do it again when there is another Earth Bound project (or another one like it).
Did you enjoy EB3?  I enjoyed the EB3 Unit. It was fun to learn about what the team is doing to change the world. I liked learning about the Argali sheep. It was cool to talk to people halfway across the world on a satellite phone for the first time.
Final Comments
I wish (I HOPE) that the students could do this again next year!
Did you enjoy EB3?  I enjoyed it because it was an easy way to learn. I liked how it was because it was an alternative to fungi or other science class stuff. I really liked how interesting it all was.
Final Comments
I think kids in future years should do this because it was fascinating and I learned a lot.
Did you enjoy EB3?  I got to learn a lot about the Argali, and I liked that. I also liked learning about another country.
Final Comments
I was disappointed that I never got to ask my question.
Did you enjoy EB3?  I enjoyed the EB3 project because it was a lot less confusing than the normal science education info. I liked to learn about Mongolia more, and I also enjoyed the Satellite phone conversation with Jamie and Auggie.
Final Comments
For the conference, I suggest telling the office that the class will be doing the conversation with a team over the satellite phone so they won't do an ALL-CALL announcement over the loud speaker. I also want to comment on the EB3 team's determination and dedication, and how I really admire what they are doing.
Did you enjoy EB3?  I did enjoy the EB3 unit. It is very educational for all of us. You get to spend time around the world meeting different people,. You get to learn more about the lifestyle of each background.
Final Comments
The Satellite conference was great! It was fun getting the know the group.
Did you enjoy EB3?  I liked going on the website and finding out about the team. I also liked finding out different facts about Mongolia.
Final Comments
I think next year if the school does another Earthwatch project like this, you should have the students learn how to say "Hello" and "Goodbye" or anything else in the native language.
Did you enjoy EB3?  I liked this unit. It gave us a break from the typical science units. It also gave us some knowledge of items that we usually wouldn't study in Science and possibly even History.
Final Comments
I think that we're pretty lucky to be able to communicate with the Earthwatch 3 team because not many schools have the opportunity to do anything like this.
Did you enjoy EB3?  I learned about some of the trips and how cool they were. I learned how to say "Dog" in Mongolian. We also got to meet new and enjoyable people.
Final Comments
Tyler and Arsen should have talked on the phone too.
Did you enjoy EB3?  I like the outdoors and we go to skip science for 2 weeks and talk about nature and animals. I liked not having to take my book home to do my homework (since I could use the website). I really liked seeing pictures of the Argali.
Final Comments
I would like to go on one of these trips!
Did you enjoy EB3?  I enjoyed the Earthwatch journals and using Mapquest. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Satellite conference.
Final Comments
I think you should print out the papers for EB3 in case someone's Internet goes down for long periods of time, or don't have the Internet at home.
Did you enjoy EB3?  It was interesting to observe the the EB3 team and see what they did. It was cool to be involved in this type of project. Plus the homework was pretty easy.
Final Comments
Like all technology it isn't without error (since many of our calls dropped). However, I think Ms. Vander Zwaag and Mrs. Coleman did an excellent job of accomplishing the whole task.
Did you enjoy EB3?  Yes and No, it didn't seem very 'Science' related and it was kind of a hassle getting on the website when I have such a slow dialup. But it was kind of cool to talk to someone on the other side of the world.
Final Comments
It was interesting hearing Jamie's and Auggie's answers. It sounded really weird hearing them when the phone got garbled and then disconnected.
Did you enjoy EB3?  I did enjoy EB3 a lot! I really enjoyed listening to the Satellite phone and to the answers. I also enjoyed learning about the Argali, since I didn't even know they existed!
Final Comments
It was great I loved everything about the EB3 unit. I think this was a great experience for me and would love to do it again.
Did you enjoy EB3?  Yes, I loved talking to people in Mongolia. The worksheets were all interesting. It was very fun looking at the Internet site.
Final Comments
It is a great learning experience. All the kids in Mongolia should be talking on the phone.
Did you enjoy EB3?  Yes, I liked the unit a lot. The three reasons why I liked the unit are because we learned some new kinds of names, we learned about the Argali, and we learned about GPS and radio collars for tracking.
Final Comments
I really learned a lot in the EB3 unit while also having fun. There were some great activities, including the conference.
Did you enjoy EB3?  I liked learning more about their country form the journals. I also liked all the pictures on the website and I liked the Satellite conference.
Final Comments
Next time I think everyone should be sitting on the ground for the Satellite conference and I think all the tables should be moved into a corner so there could be more space.
Did you enjoy EB3?  Yes, because it was fun to learn about the different places they went, the jobs they had to do and the adventures they went on each day.
Final Comments
I would REALLY enjoy doing something like what the EB3 team did. I sounds fun!
Did you enjoy EB3?  This was kind of fun. The best part was that we didn't have to read much. It was fun to teach the class about our section even though I couldn't read my own writing very well. I liked learning about another country.
Final Comments
The call was fun! Can we do it again some time?
